Board Description:

• A limited edition, small wave summer sled crafted to feed your head. A spin off of the classic Mayhem RNF Retro, styled out with a fluted wing, beak nose, accentuated flat deck, and finished off with tantalizing tints and a lively, intricately illustrated throwback logo - Wave Riding Vehicles x Mayhem, the collab of our dreams.

• "I'm especially excited about the fourth...actually first ever partner, in our Manufactures Collab Collection. Wave Riding Vehicles was a key influence on us, as Lost Surfboards started to evolve from an upstart to a (semi) legitimate operation. While at our first Surf Expo in 1993, Pat Herrle, then GM of Wave Riding Vehicles, invited me to their factory to shape and paint a run of WRV x Mayhem surfboards. In Spring '94, I flew to Virginia Beach and was picked up by shaper Tommy Moore, who drove me to their Outer Banks, NC factory. There I hand shaped 50 boards and painted them, with techniques similar to Ryder Biolos today. The factory featured all kinds of characters. Shapers like Co-owner, Bill Frierson, Laminators like Dave Rohde (who gifted my first copy of Kerouacs On The Road) and a sander called Farm Boy. But no one with more character, than the larger than life personality of visionary Co-Owner, Les Shaw. Les stomped around, causing chaos, riddling wild motivating (and sometimes debilitating) remarks, laced with brash, but often brilliant, hidden words of wisdom, usually only making sense in hindsight. We surfed the fabled beach break barrels, with many of the eras iconic surfers. Guys like the legendary Wes Laine and a host of talented tube hounds, raised on sand bottom spitters. While there, I soaked everything in. The way they warehoused and tracked raw materials, blanks and finished boards. The order cards that tracked a board through stages of production, employee payment and more. I saw and realized the need for a solid back end crew of people, besides the builders, to manage a business. Eye opening and intrinsically influential. Wave Riding Vehicles have been building boards since the name says. More than 55 years. The iconic Dolphin logo is one of surfing's most recognizable. They've been the East Coast's largest manufacture for decades. Still family owned and operated, we are stoked to build these special boards together. Shaped in CA then glassed in the Outer Banks by a crew of core board builders and only available Wave Riding Vehicles shops." - Matt Biolos
